After 12 years, Michael Ray Aquino attends PMA homecoming
Aquino, a member of PMA Class 1988, said he was happy to return to Borromeo Field of the PMA, according to a report on "Balitanghali."
"Siyempre masaya, after 12 years ngayon lang ako uli nakatungtong dito," he said.
He appeared happy to be attending the reunion, the "Balitanghali" report said.
Aquino left the Philippines in 2001, claiming then President Gloria Arroyo had persecuted him.
While in the US, he was arrested in connection with an espionage case, and was extradited to the Philippines in June 2011.
Last December, Manila Judge Carolina Sison ordered Aquino released from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) where he had been detained since his return.
Earlier, Aquino had filed a motion before the court seeking to quash the criminal information filed against him by the Department of Justice.
He had been under NBI custody after his extradition to stand trial for the disappearance of PR man Salvador Dacer and Dacer's driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.
Aquino was a key official of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF).
While in the PAOCTF, Aquino served under former police chief and now Senator Panfilo Lacson, who allegedly ordered the task force to commit the murders.
The Court of Appeals cleared Lacson of the double murder and CA's ruling was upheld by the Supreme Court. . — LBG, GMA News
