'AHA!' shows some love to three lucky viewers
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, GMA’s science education program ‘AHA!’ recently showed some love to its most loyal fans. Aha! viewers were invited to count the number of times that pop-up graphics of Drew blowing hearts appeared on screen during the February 10 episode of Aha! The first three viewers to share their correct answers on AHA!’s Facebook page and Twitter account were given the exclusive chance to visit an AHA!’s taping and meet host Drew Arellano!
The first three viewers who got the correct answer and who were chosen by ‘AHA!’ were Jeric Agorilla, Naui Velasco, and Jessica Ann Ragudo. These three lucky winners got to spend the whole morning of February 13 with Drew Arellano at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City.
Here are some behind-the-scenes photos from the set visit:
Jessica Ragudo, 25, is from Bacoor, Cavite. Watching ‘AHA!’ is a Sunday morning habit she enjoys with her family. “Pinapanood po namin to get different lessons. Marami kasing natutunan,” she said. “Parang ‘yung sa pets episode. Nalaman ko doon kung healthy ba ‘yung dog ko or hindi.”
(We watch ‘AHA!’ to get different lessons. You really learn a lot. For example, I learned from the pets episode if my dog was healthy or not.)
Jessica also shared that she has been crushing on Drew Arellano since his Sunsilk commercial days. To express her love for the host, she brought Drew chocolate chip cookies which she baked herself. Overwhelmed and grateful, Drew was left speechless and gave Jessica one big hug.
Are Jessica’s homemade cookies good? Well, Drew and the cavemen approve!
Jeric Agorilla, an 18-year-old BS Development Communication major from the University of the Philippines -Los Baños, travelled all the way from San Pablo, Laguna to visit the Aha! set. Jeric watches ‘AHA!’ every Sunday so he won’t need to browse through thick encyclopedias anymore to learn new things. “Para sa akin, mas okay po kasi ‘yung natututo sa TV shows like ‘AHA!’” he said. “Katulad po doon sa end-of-the-world episode, natutunan ko na hindi pala totoo iyon.”
(For me, it’s better to learn new things through TV shows like ‘AHA!’ Like in their end-of-the-world episode, I learned that this rumor isn’t true.)
Jeric also shared that ever since he was a kid, he has been a loyal Kapuso. “Nakikipag-away pa nga po ako dati sa mga classmate ko na hindi Kapuso,” he said. (I used to fight with my classmates who are not Kapuso viewers.) Now this Kapuso fan has his own GMA-7 backpack, all thanks to Kuya Drew!
Jeric (right) plans to work in media right after college. During the shoot with Aha!, he decided to start early and observe how Direk Jepoi (center) shoots his subjects.
Naui Velasco, 20, is a call center agent from Bacoor, Cavite. Even with her demanding job, she makes time for ‘AHA!’ every Sunday. “Marami kasing natutunan. Very educational.” she said. “Helpful ‘yung information nila tungkol sa mga emergency cases. Parang ‘yung may ahas na episode. Tuturuan ka kung paano dapat gawin.”
(You learn a lot of things. The show is very educational. Information about emergency cases are very helpful, like the one in the snakes episode. They’ll teach you what to do during emergency situations.)
Drew and his trusty sidekicks, Ever and Bedik, rehearse their spiel. Like a modern day Prometheus, the Titan who stole fire from the gods to share with humans, Drew demonstrates to the cavemen the wonders of light and fire.
The winners pose with Drew one last time before calling it an AHA-mazing day!
‘AHA!’ airs every Sunday, 9:00 AM, on GMA 7. Follow the show’s Facebook and Twitter account for your daily dose of AHA-mazing tips and trivia, and updates on upcoming episodes.
