UAAP: NU battles back from two sets down to take game one of the men's volleyball finals

The National University men's volleyball team defeated the defending champions Far Eastern University to take game one of the UAAP men's volleyball finals, Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

 

After taking the first two sets, the Tamaraws conceded the third and fourth to take the game to a fifth set.

 

NU started the fifth playing catch-up, before errors on kills put the Bulldogs ahead 7-5 early on. A triple block gave NU an 8-5 lead, before Joh Ian Depamaylo's kill went long, 9-5.

 

A Peter Torres service error gave FEU a point, but Berlin Paglinawan and Torres scored two straight, 11-6. Edwin Tolentino made it 12-6, before Ben Inaudito's kill sailed long, 12-7. A couple of Tolentino kills sandwiched a Vince Mangulabnan service error for match point, before Arvin Avila finished the game with a block. - AMD, GMA News
