Want to look fabulous at the beach but worried about dry tangled hair and sweaty skin? Don’t worry! “Fashbook” host Solenn Heussaff says this can even be used to your advantage. She shares two easy beach looks– complete with recommended hairdo, makeup, and accessories–that will make you look fresh, natural, and well put-together, without requiring too much time or effort to pull off.

DAY LOOK: Tousled and sun-kissed

During the day, you want to look great while enjoying the sun and maybe even taking on a few water sports. Here’s a look that will make sure you look great with minimal effort.

1. Form a messy bun

There’s no need for combing or brushing. Gather your hair and twirl it around to form a very messy bun and tie it in place. Don’t worry about the hair sticking out. You can tuck them into your bun with bobby pins afterwards.

Tip: Buns are the perfect beach hairdo. Aside from showing off your neck, shoulders, and collarbones, it also keeps your hair free from your body while tanning. No messy tanlines!

2. Accessorize

Add some color to your hair by placing a few colorful elastic headbands on your head. This can also help keep stray hairs away from your face.

3. Define your brows.

Lightly define your eyebrows. Make sure to use a natural color and only fill in where needed.

4. Conceal.

Instead of using foundation which can melt, cake, or crease in the heat, just use concealer in areas where you need it, like under your eyes and on blemishes. However, if you prefer more coverage, you can use tinted sunscreen. Don’t forget to set with powder.

5. Highlight.

If you want a healthy, dewy, sun-kissed look, face highlighters are your best friends. Solenn used a liquid highlighter here but you can also find creams, sticks, and powders. Just apply on your cheekbones and T-Zone, and blend well. You can also use a light blush for a healthy flush on the cheeks.

6. Define your eyes and add color to your lips.

Curl your lashes and apply a coat of waterproof mascara. You can also apply a neutral shimmer to your lids for that extra glow.

Pick a natural soft pink color for your lips to look polished yet not too made up.

Tip: In lieu of applying lip gloss, Solenn applied the highlighter she used on her face on top of her lipstick to give it a light shimmer.

NIGHT LOOK: Chic and sleek for a cocktail by the beach

After a day of swimming and sunbathing, you may want to get dressed up for a evening cocktail by the beach. With a few modifications to your daytime look, you can look sophisticated and stylish in no time!

1. Gather your hair.

To start off, unravel your bun and gather your hair on one side. Don’t bother combing or brushing it. The messy look is part of this hairdo's charm.

2. Tie your hair.

Create a makeshift hair tie by attaching two bobby pins to an elastic band. Pin the fist bobby pin to your hair and use the elastic to wrap around your hair, then attach the second bobby pin to secure your messy side ponytail.

3. Make a colorful braid.

Tie a scarf around the part of your hair that you secured with pins and an elastic band. Section your hair like you would before you start braiding, making sure to include the scarf in one of the sections. Start braiding and secure the end when done.

4. Make a bun.

You can also twirl your braid into a bun if you want your hair off your neck during warm summer nights.

5. Contour your face.

Apply contour/bronzer under your cheekbones to emphasize them.

6. Define your eyes and add lipstick.

Attach fake eyelashes and curl them to open up your eyes. You can also apply eyeliner on your lash line to make it look seamless.

Apply a natural shade of lipstick for a fresh and natural look.

Now that you know how to achieve Solenn’s standout beach looks, make sure to try it out on your next beach trip and count how many heads you’ll turn.–Grace Gaddi/PF, GMA News
