"Angry Birds Friends," the social network adaptation of the monster hit game, is coming to iPhones and Android smartphones soon.
But Rovio has yet to give a release date for the expansion of the Facebook-integrated version of the game —where one can compete against Facebook friends— to iOS and Android.
"While details are slim, the company vows that the upcoming Android and iOS ports will maintain Facebook integration for rewards and tournaments, and they'll support both phones and tablets," Engadget said.
It said that as far as the release date is concerned, "Rovio will only say that the mobile Friends port is coming 'soon.'"
A separate article on TechCrunch said this may give Rovio more exposure for its brands, while keeping up with trends in gaming where games are free to download, but get revenue from in-app purchases.
“Rovio I think is very inspired by Supercell, which is absoutely ruling the App Store when it comes to top grossing apps. No one caares about paid as much as they do about grossing,” Julien Codorniou, who heads up Facebook Gaming partnerships, said in an interview with TechCrunch.
Engadget said "Angry Birds Friends" has been popular on Facebook, getting 15 million active users.
