Kristoffer Arevalo squeezed out a three-over-par 75 to rule the boys' Class B division, while Mikhaela Fortuna scored a two-over-par 74 to successfully defend the crown she won last year at the Philippine Junior Golf Championship (The Montecillo) at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, Cavite on Friday. Arevalo's 299 anchored a five-shot romp over Cebu's Wei Wei Gao (74-304) and Lanz Uy (74-309). Fortuna, who owns a mean short game swing, tallied a 221 to win over Bernice Ilas-Olivarez (75-223) and ICTSI's Sofia Chabon (73-224). Miya Legaspi had a one-under-par 71 that gave her a 299 total to defeat ICTSI teammates Abby Arevalo (79-301) and Pauline del Rosario (70-309) for the plum in the girls' Class B category of the event organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines. The Montecillo, a tournament honoring junior golf founder Amalia "Maling" Montecillo, also saw Thailand's Suvajanakorn Nattawat and Supamas Sangchan dominate the boys' and girls' Class A, respectively. Suvajanakorn picked the right time to card a two-under-par 70 for a three-under-par 285 aggregate in 72 holes. It was enough to overtake three-day leader Chiu Han-ting (71-286) for the crown. Supamas turned in her worst outing of 75 for 291 as she survived another sizzling round from homegrown talent Princess Superal. Superal, also of ICTSI, tallied 294, thanks to two three-under 69s in the last two rounds. Christopher Popp (73-221) squeaked past Jets Sajulga and Aidric Chan, who came thorough with identical 71s for 221s.  Sajulga, with the better final nine (36-38), was declared first runner up in the boys Class C. - RAF, GMA News
