Treay Huey and Francis Casey Alcantara gave the Philippines a crucial victory on Saturday, when they defeated Pruchya Isarow and Nuttanon Kadchapanan, 6-3 6-3 7-6(4), in the lone doubles match of the second round of the 2013 Davis Cup Group II Asia/Oceania competition, held at the Plantation Bay Resort in Cebu. The Philippine team now enters the final day of the three-day event needing only one more victory to earn the right to play New Zealand for a spot in Group I. On Sunday, Ruben Gonzales (784th) will be pitted against higher-ranked Danai Udomchoke (207th), while Johnny Arcilla will face Davis Cup first-timer Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul. Udomchoke won against Arcilla on Friday in four sets, 6-3 6-2 1-6 6-2, while Trongcharoenchaikul had to retire in the third set of his match against Gonzales after suffering from cramps in the opening game, 6-7(6) 6-4 3-0. - AMD, GMA News
