At Saudi culture fest, three UAE men evicted for being 'too handsome'

April 17, 2013 3:00pm

For allegedly being too handsome, three men from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were evicted from an annual culture festival in Saudi Arabia, a report of the news site Emirates 24/7 said.

Citing a report from the Saudi news website Elaph, Emirates 24/7 said Saudi authorities took the three Emirati men because "they are too handsome and that the Commission members feared female visitors could fall for them."

The report added that the "festival’s management took urgent measures to deport the three to Abu Dhabi."

Also during the festival, a Saudi cop allegedly stormed the UAE booth because he was attracted by an Emirati female artist there, Emirates 24/7 said.

In a statement, Saeed Al Kaabi, head of the UAE delegation to the festival, said the female artist was not part of the official festival program and was just visiting the event.

A video from a social media site showed national guard members from the festival evicting the Saudi cop at the Genaderia festivities in Riyadh after he reportedly stormed the stand.

This caused public outcry in the Middle East with Commission Chairman Abdul Latif Al Shaikh calling for an investigation to get to the bottom of the incident. - Andrei Medina, VVP, GMA News
