Fil-Aussie beauty editor bags excellence award for fragrance journalism
A Filipina-Australian beauty editor of a style magazine Down Under recently received two awards for her work, including one for journalistic excellence. According to an article from publication The Filipino-Australian on Apr. 23, "InStyle Australia" magazine beauty editor Eleanor Marie Pendleton was the recipient of the Jasmine Awards for Journalistic Excellence at the 2013 Jasmine Awards on Apr. 16. Pendleton, 24, also bagged the Best Visual Story on Fragrance category in the same awards ceremony. "It's an absolute honor to accept the award for Best Visual Feature and the 2013 Jasmine Award for Journalistic Excellence. This award is as much the InStyle team's as it is our talented photographer, Edward Urrutia. Our combined vision and months of hard work is at the core of the annual InStyle Fragrance Awards,” said Pendleton, in a statement released by the Jasmine Awards. “I'd also like to extend a big thank you to the wonderful beauty publicists who assisted me throughout the process. I'm so humbled to stand alongside such a high calibre of talented and skilled beauty journalists," she continued. The Jasmine Awards started in the United Kingdom over 20 years ago to recognize the works of journalists involving the fragrance industry, according to its site. The “most highly recognized and prestigious awards for fragrance journalism” are also held in countries such as France, Canada, and the United States. The awards began in Australia in 2003. Pendleton started her journalism career six years ago, according to The Filipino-Australian. After graduating as a journalism major, she interned at the Australian Consolidated Press and started her media career as a beauty writer and editorial coordinator for Cosmopolitan Hair and Beauty Magazine. Pendleton's profile on professional social networking site LinkedIn states that she has been working for "InStyle Australia" for over two years. During her stint there, some of her achievements, aside from bagging honors at the Jasmine Awards, include: • Traveling to Bangkok, Thailand with Chanel as the only Australian media for the launch of Chanel HydraBeauty Serum. • Travelling to London for Fashion Week as the only Australian media with TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe and Unilever. • 2012 finalist for beautydirectory's 'Best Beauty Feature' award. • 2012 finalist for beautydirectory's 'Best Beauty Writer in Print Media' award. Pendleton won a luxurious trip to Paris, France because of the journalistic excellence award, and will also go on a side trip to visit the perfume museum in Grasse. - Gian C. Geronimo, VVP, GMA News
