TweetDeck, Twitter’s popular client, has cut support for Facebook and is no longer likely to work in iPhone and Android, a tech site reported Thursday.

CNET said the move, which also removed support for TweetDeck for Air, is part of the micro-blogging site to focus its development efforts on its web client.

“For now, TweetDeck for Mac is still available, but one has to wonder how long that will be the case, given Twitter’s insistence on pointing TweetDeck towards a Web-focused existence,” it said.

“Some people who have held on to their legacy versions of TweetDeck will no doubt find themselves disappointed and looking for alternatives,” it added.

It cited Twitter’s announcement last March where it said it is focusing on building “a fast and feature-rich web application for modern browsers.”

Also, CNET said that while Twitter is not abandoning mobile device users, it wants people to use its official mobile apps such as like Twitter for iOS or for Android.  — TJD, GMA News
