The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines reassured the public there will be no power problems for the day, even as a brownout was recorded in Cebu province early Monday.

A brownout occurred in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province but did not disrupt the start of voting in the area, radio dzBB reported.

In its power outlook for Monday, the Department of Energy said even Mindanao, which had been plagued by brownouts in past months, will have reserves of up to 235 megawatts for the day.

"We don't see any problem nationwide," a post on the DOE's Twitter account quoted DOE Electric Power Industry Management Bureau Director Mylene Capongcol as saying.

The DOE also posted another image showing the actual power supply and demand as of 6 a.m., showing no power deficit for the day.

It showed Luzon having an available capacity of 9,173 megawatts, Visayas with 1,788 megawatts and Mindanao with 976 megawatts.

Peak demand for the day was projected at 4,714 megawatts in Luzon, 874 megawatts in Visayas, and 741 megawatts in Mindanao.

This meant reserves of 4,459 megawatts in Luzon, 914 megawatts in the Visayas, and 235 megawatts in Mindanao.
