It looks like summer will stay longer this year and more people are getting busy to check out the hottest destinations. Social media sites are flooded with vacation photos and updates. But before you join them in hitting the beach, make sure that you are on your way to cutting down that extra fat by engaging in physical activities.

Your Windows phone offers apps on exciting exercises. Moreover, after a tiring day of workout, there is an app that can help you monitor and identify your sleep issues.

“Windows phone apps are designed to respond to the most practical needs of users today from news and information to health and fitness because this is what Microsoft technology is all about—improving the lives of people,” said Alvin Gendrano, Developer and Platform Director at Microsoft Philippines.

“Windows 8 is a perfect lifestyle partner! I’m addicted to this app right now called Ballstrike. It is so much fun because I can use it to work out and play with my family at the same time,” said Jim Saret, Fitness Expert and Windows 8 Ambassador.

Below are the Windows Phone apps you can now download and use:

Men's Health Workouts: This is brought to you by the popular Men's Health publication. The app features a variety of exercises that are sorted alphabetically, by body part or preference. Each exercise includes detailed, step-by-step instructions. The app features a circuit training interface that is designed for maximum results in minimum time. Men's Health Workouts also includes a training log to track your progress and an exercise/rest timer to pace your workouts.

Gym Assistant: Is designed to help you track and schedule your gym workouts. Gym Assistant is a free form app that lets you plan and monitor your exercises throughout the week. You can view and plan your daily or weekly schedule of exercise. You can also name the targeted muscle group, the exercise, the sets, reps and weights used. As you complete the exercise, you can check off on it as complete.

Women's Health Workouts: Similar to Men's Health Workouts, Women's Health Workouts app focuses on exercise routines designed for a women's physique. The app is laid out in the same manner as the men's app with workouts sorted alphabetically, by muscle focus and fitness goal. Each exercise is detailed with step-by-step instructions and visual demos to help you get things right. Women's Health Workouts also features a training log to track your progress and a workout/rest timer to pace your routines

Sports Tracker: Sports Tracker is a Windows Phone fitness app that is designed more for those who prefer more mobile fitness routines, such as running and cycling, over the gym workouts. Along with mapping out your routes, Sports Tracker will track and analyze your exercise performance that includes duration, distance, pace, energy, and other stats. It also connects and syncs workouts with your Sports Tracker account to allow you to view your workouts online at Sports-Tracker.com.

Nike+ Kinect Training: Nike+ Kinect Training is a supplemental Windows Phone app for Nike+ Kinect Training for Xbox 360. The app allows you to access your Xbox 360 activity, track your program progress, explore your workouts, get Challenge reminders, connect and cheer on your friends and prepare for upcoming workout sessions.

Sleep Recorder: Ever wonder if you snore? If you talk in your sleep? Does your wife/husband swear they don't snore? Sleep Recorder is an interesting Windows Phone app that records audio while you sleep and could help you answer those questions. Recording your sleep cycles, Sleep Recorder also maps out where you've spent the night and uploads recordings to the cloud where they can be shared with others. Sleep Recorder is a unique app for your Windows Phone that cannot only solve sleep related curiosities but also help identify sleep issues.
