NDRRMC: 1 killed, 26 hurt in bus accident in Ilocos Sur

At least one person was killed while 26 were injured after a bus figured in an accident in Ilocos Sur province Thursday afternoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.

In its report, the NDRRMC said the accident occurred at 4 p.m. Thursday as the bus was crossing the national highway of Barangay Olo-olo Sur in Santiago town in Ilocos Sur.

"The bus driver lost control of the vehicle due to a slippery road caused by heavy rain. The bus turned to its side after hitting a concrete marker and an electrical post," it said.

Killed in the accident was pedestrian Joel Vez, 24, while bus driver Raymundo Ulpino and 25 passengers were injured.

All the victims were rushed to the Candon General Hospital and Candon City Hospital for treatment.
