The rainy season is not due until early June, but the transition from summer has begun, state weather forecasters said Friday.

In a radio interview, PAGASA forecaster Alvin Pura said the transition period is causing very humid weather at times of the day.

"Nasa transition tayo papunta tag-ulan. Meron tayong nararanasang easterlies kaya maalinsangan ang maasahan," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.

Otherwise, he said the southwest monsoon is likely to arrive soon.

But Pura said the rainy season is likely to make itself felt in early June.

"Inaasahan natin pagpasok ng early June mararanasan ang tag-ulan," he said.

Pura advised the public, particularly students and their parents, to take precautions against the rain and possible floods by then.
