Golf: Lascuna, Que and Santos-Ocampo headline final round of ICTSI Orchard Championship

An explosive match-up featuring Antonio Lascuna, Angelo Que and Carl Santos-Ocampo is expected Saturday in the final round of the P2.5-million ICTSI Orchard Championship at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmarinas, Cavite.

This scenario ensued as Lascuna (66-202), Que (67-206) and Santos-Ocampo (72-208) finished in the top three, in that order, after the third round on Friday at the Orchard’s Player course.

Lascuna went bogey-free with a 66, draining four birdies in the outward nine, then adding two more, including a near-eagle second shot on the 18th, to pull away by four against Que and by six over Santos-Ocampo.

“My chipping and putting were superb,” said Lascuna, who birdied the first two holes inside 14 feet, adding another four-footer on the seventh before rolling in a difficult pin-high, side hill putt on number nine.

Que, debuting in the local ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour this week, also gained in the penultimate round after he made eight birdies against two bogeys on numbers 10 and 11.  Still, he gave himself a chance at the P450,000 top prize.

“I have to rid of bogeys to increase my chances of winning,” said Que.

Santos-Ocampo needed to birdie the last two holes to salvage a 72 and join Lascuna and Que in the final group.
 

Richard Sinfuego, the surprise fourth so far, had a 70 for 210, and was happy with where he was at the moment.
 

“I’ll try to finish in the top five,” he said.
 

2011 Asian Tour No. 1 Juvic Pagunsan unleashed his vaunted short game to match Lascuna’s 66, although he stood too far behind at 211, in a tie with ICTSI John Hay champion Jay Bayron and Michael Bibat, who shot 69 and 73, respectively.
 

Miguel Tabuena, winner at ICTSI Sherwood, matched par 72 and dropped to eighth to join Mars Pucay who made 70 at 212. Clyde Mondilla fired a 69 for a 214. - RAF, GMA News
