A diaper maker may be taking the concept of exposing children to technology at a young age a bit literally—and for some, a bit too far.

The makers of Huggies diapers are now testing "TweetPee", a smartphone app that may debut in Brazil in July to help parents better keep track of how many diapers their toddler uses.

But what makes it controversial is the app's companion: a clip-on humidity sensor attached to the diaper, though the maker said this was "intended merely as a concept device" and will "not be made available for purchase."

This early, GizMag is not too thrilled about the device, saying the concept device "clips onto the diaper in the region where natural springs are expected to flow."

"On the downside, it's been suggested that the effect of early exposure of genitals to microwave frequencies is unknown," it said.

It also said that while Kimberly-Clark insisted it is not suggesting "parents are unable or too busy to notice when their babies' diapers need changing," it seems that the only likely social outcome of this social media application is "to let all your friends know that your attention has wavered."  — TJD, GMA News
