Fans of the hit game "Plants vs Zombies" won't have too long to wait: a sequel to the game with a time-travel twist is coming on July 18, a tech site reported.

PopCap's "Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time!" will take place in different locations and will introduce a new plant, Mashable's Emily Price reported.

"While the original game takes place on the lawn of your home, the sequel takes place in a number of different locations: Ancient Egypt, a Pirate Ship, and the Wild West," Price wrote.

Price said the gameplay starts in Ancient Egypt, where the player collects stars that can be used to unlock the time portal.

New plants will be introduced in the sequel, including one named Bloomerang, Mashable's Price said.

Price described Bloomerang as a flower of sorts that "shoots out boomerangs" and return to the plant.

Another new plant is Snapdragon, "breathing fire on the three tiles around it as zombies approach."

"New finger powers in the game also give you the ability to pinch, flick and zap zombies, a feature that definitely comes in handle when you find yourself in the middle of a huge attack," Price said.

But here's the best part, Mashable said: the game will be free, though players may want to spend via in-app purchases.

"You can reach each level of the game without paying for anything; however, certain power-ups and feature will be available for gamers who want to spend a little cash through in-app purchases," Price said. — TJD, GMA News
