Facebook experiences apparent outage

No, it's not your device, folks: Facebook appears to have suffered a brief outage Wednesday (Philippine time), with users of the social site receiving an error message when accessed via Web.

 

But tech site The Next Web reported smartphone users reported they could still access the social network's mobile version.

 

It quoted the company as saying the downtime was due to "an internal issue in our web infrastructure" that caused the site to be "slow or unavailable for a brief period of time."

 

"We resolved the issue quickly, and should now be back to 100%. We apologize for any inconvenience," The Next Web quoted Facebook as saying.

 

A separate article on CNET said the affected users were greeted by a message claiming the page they were visiting did not exist. CNET added Facebook experienced various outages last year.

 

In December last year, Facebook had a DNS issue that temporarily prevented people from reaching the site.

 

In October last year, the company's traffic optimization tests accidentally knocked many users in Europe off the site. —VC, GMA News
