A day after police demonstrated their crowd-handling skills
in time for President Benigno Aquino III's State of the Nation Address, militants on Friday started dropping hints about the effigy they will use for their protest on July 22.
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan secretary general Renato Reyes Jr. said the effigy will touch on issues such as economic growth, Charter change and foreign intervention.
"This year's effigy will deal with claims of inclusive economic growth, charter change and foreign intervention," Reyes said on his Twitter account.
"No, we will not be using the Minions for the Aquino effigy. That would be unfair to the Minions," he said.
Militants are to hold protests on July 22 near the Batasan Complex in Quezon City, where President Aquino is to deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress.
Quezon City police met on security preparations for the SONA last week and are to meet with organizers of protest actions in the coming days.
On Thursday, Metro Manila police units demonstrated their civil disturbance management tactics in Manila. —KG, GMA News
