Tropical depression may enter PHL this weekend

April 4, 2014 7:54pm
The dry season is upon us, but a tropical depression may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday, GMA's resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz said in his 24 Oras weather report on Friday.

The cyclone, which PAGASA will call Domeng if it enters the PAR, could hit the Caraga and Eastern Visayas regions.

The weather bureau last spotted the tropical depression 2,075 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao.

It hasn't affected weather in the Philippines yet but it may gain strength and turn into a tropical storm before it enters the country.

PAGASA said the easterlies will bring partly cloudy skies with isolated rain this weekend with rain more likely in the afternoon or at night.

Meanwhile, data from The Weather Company showed a large part of the country, particularly Northern Luzon and some parts of Southern Luzon, will continue to experience warm temperatures this weekend.

The chance of rain in Metro Manila is still low, but the heat index or the apparent temperature will remain high.

Light rain will be experienced in Visayas on Saturday, especially in the eastern section including Catarman in Northern Samar and Catbalogan City in Samar Province, Cruz said.

It is also likely to rain on Saturday afternoon or evening in parts of Mindanao, including Zamboanga and Dipolog in Zamboanga del Norte. Kim Luces/JDS, GMA News
