Mozilla Firefox gets better search bar, dev tools

July 23, 2014 1:16pm
Mozilla has rolled out a new version of Firefox, giving it the ability to natively handle certain types of files and adding a search field on the New Tab page.

Firefox Version 31 has variants for desktop and mobile platforms, including Microsoft's Windows, Apple's Mac and Linux, and Google's Android.

Among the new features are:

  • ability to reorder existing panels on the browser homescreen
  • ability to refresh synced tabs on demand

Tech site The Next Web said Firefox for Windows will now handle .ogg and .pdf files in the browser if the user has not assigned an app to open them by default.

Also, it said a new Firefox Hub API has been implemented so "add-on developers can now display their own content or tools on the existing Firefox for Android homepage."  Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
