Philippine Airlines, the country's flag carrier, announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its flight capacity to several domestic and international destinations in time for the summer season. In a statement, PAL said it will increase frequencies to Davao, Kalibo, Tagbilaran, Cagayan de Oro and Tacloban until early June. The airline will also increase the frequency of flights to Beijing, Xiamen, Nagoya, Okinawa, Seoul, Busan, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Vancouver. "Davao receives the biggest boost, with two daily flights added to the regular three-times-daily service. The new frequencies represent a nearly 40 percent capacity increase on PAL's main route to Mindanao," PAL said. It added that the airline has set an extra 1,092 seats weekly going to Kalibo, Aklan, where tourists pass on the way to popular Boracay Island. In addition, capacity to Tagbilaran more than doubles as a second daily flight, utilizing the 134-seater A319, is added, also for the duration of the month of May. The route is presently served by the 114-seater Boeing 737-300.-GMANews.TV
