Top favorite All That Jazz showed its sprinting prowess to beat Flavorofthemonth for the PCSO Maiden Race title Sunday at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite. Despite getting out of the gate last among five campaigners, All That Jazz responded very well to jockey Kelvin Abobo's prodding and sprinted at the backstretch to gain its second win in as many starts. All That Jazz, who gained P482,949 out of the P813,340 Daily Double gross sales, finished the 1,400-meter race using a time of 1:31.5 (12'-24-26-29), which is faster than the 1:32.5 which the sprinter posted last April 24 during a trial race. The victory is worth P300,000 for All That Jazz connections led by horse owner Jose Quiroz, who earned an additional P30,000 for being the breeder of the winning horse. Flavorofthemonth, ridden by jockey Jonathan Hernandez and second favorite in the race, lost by a half-horse length but earned P100,000 while Virgin Empress who finished at third spot gave P50,000 to its connections. - GMANews.TV
