Govt defers opening of Iloilo airport to avoid politicking charges

May 4, 2007 3:23pm

The opening of the new Iloilo airport has been deferred to until after the May elections, Presidential Management Staff chief Cerge Remonde told reporters on Friday.

At the sidelines of the National Government Infrastructure Forum, Remonde said the government has decided to further postpone the airport's opening, originally scheduled last month, to avoid allegations that the project is being used to boost the chances of administration candidates. - Cheryl Arcibal, GMANews.TV
