Report: Soldiers foil ballot-snatch try in Jolo

Soldiers "took into custody" at least two men Sunday for allegedly trying to snatch two ballot boxes in Jolo Island. Online newspaper Mindanao Examiner (www.mindanaoexaminer.com) reported Sunday night that the two men were not immediately identified but were escorted by policemen. It said the police escorts almost engaged the soldiers in a firefight. No other details were immediately available. However, the report said several people witnessed the commotion at the island's provincial capitol building, where the ballot boxes were stacked.
