SunStar:Duterte cuts ties with Nograles
Following a case of political "backstabbing" in the past week, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte formally severed his ties with House majority leader Prospero Nograles Jr.
Sun-Star Davao reported Tuesday that Duterte sees no more reason to continue his "alliance" with Nograles especially now that the campaign period is over.
"The relationship fragmented with the events that unfolded during the past week," Duterte said, adding he and Nograles have never been political allies.
He was referring to sample ballots he saw being distributed by Nograles’s camp that excluded the names of some of Duterte’s Hugpong bets.
"There is no alliance between us. We have just become unified in some way because we are both for the administration. But all the while I thought nasa isang (we were in one) ticket kami, he did not support others in the Hugpong line-up," Duterte said.
Duterte added that he voted straight for Team Unity and his Hugpong Party.
The mayor assured the people of the city that he will see to it that their "votes are counted and counted correctly." - GMANews.TV
