GMA-7 team on its way to Everest Base Camp
Members of the GMA-7’s Everest team have already begun the climb onto the base camp of Mt. Everest, the world’s highest mountain, GMA-7’s 24 Oras reported Thursday.
GMA-7’s reporter Jiggy Manicad, one of the members of the Everest team, said they will stay in one of the lodging houses in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, before starting a 10-day trek to the base camp.
Manicad said the team is prepared for the climb to the base camp, which is 17,600 feet (5,380 meters) above sea level, on the southern side of Mt. Everest.
The team arrived in Kathmandu Sunday for the coverage of Filipino mountaineer Romi Garduce’s ascent to the world’s highest mountain. -GMANews.TV
