Nike women's basketball: Enforcers beat Maroons, 66-65
The Philippine College of Criminology (PCCr) edged the University of the Philippines , 66-65, to clinch the second finals berth in the women's division of the 2007 Nike Summer League basketball tournament at the Far Eastern University Gym in Manila. The PCCr is the women's champion of the Colleges and Universities Sports Association (CUSA). According to the league Tuesday, the Lady Enforcers relied on the big games of Stineli Casakit and Katrina Garcia to surprise the Lady Maroons and earn the right to face UAAP champion University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the finals. Casakit scored 17 points, while Garcia added 11 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Lady Enforcers to a hard-earned victory against the erstwhile unbeaten Lady Maroons. Mary Grace Quemada added 14 points, while Rosanna Russ contributed 10 points for the Sta. Cruz, Manila-based Lady Enforcers. Sibaya Sadorra carried the fight for the Lady Maroons with a game-high 22 points. The Lady Enforcers and the Tigresses will dispute the title at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. In the other game, Letran College defeated Far Eastern University, 71-69, to clinch third place in the junior division. Kevin Alas scatterred 19 points, while Jerelan Tampus added 15 points for the Jett Latonio-mentored Squires. Shane Kho and Patrick Guerero paced the Baby Tamaraws with 13 and 10 points, respectively. - GMANews.TV
