Comelec finally issues resolution for Bedol’s arrest
Fugitive provincial election supervisor Lintang Bedol is facing possible arrest anytime this weekend.
This, after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc Friday finally issued the resolution for his warrant of arrest.
Comelec Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer said he and his colleagues have already promulgated the resolution but they refused to furnish reporters the copy of the resolution.
“We have promulgated the resolution," Ferrer said.
The four-page resolution specified the violation committed by Bedol both criminal and administratively.
“We have put there his violation under the civil service law and if he is found guilty he is facing a maximum penalty of termination from public office," Ferrer said.
Meantime, the poll official said if Bedol is also found criminally liable, he is facing six months to six years imprisonment.
Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos said he received calls from Bedol Thursday confirming his attendance for the hearing Friday.
However, no Bedol showed up at the hearing Friday.
Ferrer said the latest news he received was that Bedol is still in Maguindanao and undergoing a cataract operation.
But sources from the Comelec said Bedol took the flight Friday and arrived at the Manila domestic airport Friday afternoon.
In a chance interview with ARMM director Ray Sumalipao, he confirmed that Bedol was scheduled to leave Maguindanao Friday. - GMANews.TV
