Anna Theresa Licaros: RP's singing beauty queen
A show that features celebrities who are vying for one million pesos for the charity of their choice, Celebrity Duets is an original concept of American Idol's Simon Cowell. GMA-7 bought the rights of the show and sought to bring the Filipinos this new concept of reality-singing competition for the celebrities.
Presenting eight famous personalities from all walks of life, the show promises to bring us an interesting and entertaining Saturday part of which is the captivating beauty of Anna Theresa Licaros.
The Beauty Queen
Even if she is busy with her responsibilities as the reigning Bb. Pilipinas Universe on top of her law studies in the University of the Philippines, Anna Theresa Licaros opted to volunteer for the Celebrity Duets competition.
"Out of my own volition, I did volunteer for the contest. Somebody asked me from GMA if I wanted to join, and it seemed like a fun thing to do," says the beauty queen.
She admits that she likes to sing at home and is a Karaoke fan but the real reason why she is in the competition is that she wants to try something different.
"It (Celebrity Duets) allows me to do something that not everybody gets the chance to do. I mean every Filipino loves to sing, I'm sure nobody can deny that, but to be given the chance to sing with all these professional singers, to meet them, to work with them. It's a rare opportunity that I'm seizing right now."
A fan of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and jazz music, this statuesque beauty intrigued show staff members further when she confessed that she would like to perform a rock number on national television.
"Well if I'm going to stick around definitely they can wait for that rock song. I'm going to sing a nice rock song," assures Anna Theresa.
Since the concept of the show is to pair a non-singing celebrity with a professional singer, iGMA eagerly asked Anna, who among the Kapuso singers she would like to have a duet with.
"Gian Magdangal. He seems like a very good singer. Siya 'yung kumanta nung pageant namin. Feeling ko okay kung makaka-duet ko siya. Good chemistry."
In preparation for the contest, she shares that she attends band rehearsals provided by show and has minimal voice lessons. She however admits that she likes vocalizing in the shower.
And what does she thinks of her chances in winning this competition?
"Honestly I don't think I stand a chance because I'm surrounded by people who really sing. They have the gift, they have the talent. Ako, I really don't. I just like to sing. Iba 'yung kayang kumanta sa gustong kumanta. So feeling ko andoon ako sa category na gustong kumanta." - iGMA.tv
