Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience to be released in October

It’s been about a year already since Hideo Kojima and Konami officially wrapped up their partnership by releasing “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” the latest chapter of the long-running Tactical Espionage Operation series that chronicles the saga of Snake.

While the game was well-received and is considered one of the best installments in the franchise, much controversy arose with its development process behind the scenes as well, as tensions between Kojima and Konami saw the former tender his resignation after all was said and done.

Despite the game creator’s departure, Konami owns the license to the series and has pledged to release more Metal Gear games, as seen with the recent announcement of Metal Gear Survive. That also means that they are going to take the opportunity to rerelease their existing IPs, and MGS V will now be getting a “Definitive Edition” that combines both the stand-alone prologue chapter, "MGSV: Ground Zeroes" with "The Phantom Pain", along with all DLC content for both games.

For those who have not experienced it the first time it was released, the events of "Metal Gear Solid V" take place primarily in the mid 1970’s and 80’s and continues the long and convoluted backstory of the legendary mercenary known as “Big Boss”. Beginning with “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes,” set in 1975—a year after "Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker"—Snake is deployed on a rescue mission to a black site on Cuba, only for things to go south and his entire army is destroyed by an unknown enemy.

Nine years later, during the events of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” the player reemerges as “Venom Snake” on a quest for revenge, rebuilding his army and going on new missions to cast a new legend for the world to see.
