JDV eyeing forming new group
With his ouster from the ruling Lakas party looming, ousted Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr is seriously considering putting up a new party, his lawyer said Thursday.
Radio dzXL reported that De Venecia's lawyer Raul Lambino said the former Speaker is also not discounting the possibility of joining a smaller party should he be ousted.
Lambino said De Venecia also warned the Lakas party, which he co-founded with former president Fidel Ramos, will lose its "international status" once he is ousted.
De Venecia's ouster from Lakas appeared imminent after he was not invited to the Lakas party's national directorate meeting this coming Monday.
The former Speaker had a falling-out with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo after his son Jose III linked members of the first family to the $329.48-million ZTE broadband deal mess.
