Insects, crocodiles

Episode on March 26, 2008 Wednesday late night after Saksi We barely notice them, but once they made their presence known, they surely leave a mark... Who else could this be, but the lowly insects! Often considered as pests, a threat to our homes and crops, insects are actually an integral part of the ecosystem as Romi discovers when he peeped into the world of the minute and the miniscule. In the laboratories of UP Los Baños, a particular kind of kulisap is bred and purposely released into farmlands where they, in turn, attack the real pests that are destroying the crops. Doc Ferds, meanwhile, got up close and personal with the once-considered giant pests of the rivers and the swamps: the crocodiles. With their dwindling number, a rescue center in Davao and Isabela are doing their bit to help conserve, propagate and, ultimately, release them back into their natural habitats.

Bihira silang napapansin, pero kapag nagparamdam siguradong iindahin mo... Sino pa, kundi mga insekto! Karaniwang tingin sa kanila ay mga peste, salot sa bahay o kaya ay panira sa taniman. Pati ang dati ring itinuring na higanteng peste ng mga ilog at latian tulad ng mga buwaya ay kinilala ni Doc Ferds sa pagbisita niya sa isang crocodile rescue center sa Isabela at Davao. Doon pinaparami rin ang mga hayop na ito para sa tamang edad ay pakakawalan sila sa kanilang natural habitat.
