MANILA, Philippines- The Japanese bus driver who had admitted killing his Filipino wife and their seven-month-old son was charged in court for murder, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday. Philippine Ambassador to Japan Domingo Siazon Jr informed the DFA that 43-year-old Japanese Masayoshi Nagano was indicted before the Hachioji branch of the Tokyo Regional Court for killing Crisanta Lopez, 33, and their baby, Naomasa. Nagano’s arraignment is expected after a month. “The Embassy will attend the hearings and closely follow developments on the case," said DFA spokesperson Claro Cristobal in a text message to GMANews.TV. The remains of Lopez and her son were buried last Saturday (April 5) in the Filipina’s hometown in Mambusao, Capiz. Japanese police said that Nagano, a Seibu Bus Co driver, stabbed Lopez and choked his son to death last March 17 over depression and lack of sleep from the baby’s incessant crying. Crisanta and Masayoshi had been married for five years prior to the incident. In 1997, Crisanta, the eldest of five children, worked as an entertainer in Japan, according to her brother Michael. Eight years later, Crisanta and Masayoshi had a church wedding at the Immaculate Concepcion Metropolitan Cathedral in Roxas City, Capiz. - GMANews.TV
