“Ayoko ng plastic…gusto ko’y tunay magmahal,” sings Hazel Faith as her hair color shifts from bubble gum pink to jade green to funky purple with the passing of a hand on her face in her latest MTV.

The girl can groove.

Even on killer four-inch strappy sandals.

Drown in liquid pools of eyes a darker shade of her name while she sways to the crystal tune of a heart calling out to the perfect man.

The girl who won a contest for a walk-in part in the hit US TV series Glee was co-DJ of Mama Belle in Sikat sa Barangay last week.

Hazel, who was a cast member of the recently concluded GMA show Ilustrado, sang and danced first before she started acting. Before that was a bit role in GMA’s Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka.

Her singing was nurtured by her church choir starting age three.

From then on, it was one arts award to another.

It was probably providential that she quit her job as a junior architect.

It would have been a loss to the indies and the music industry.
