Pharell Williams, 'Happy' win big at first BBC Music awards

Though he was absent during the BBC Music Awards Thursday night, American singer, songwriter and producer Pharell Williams must be clapping along.

BBC.com reported that Pharell Williams won as International Artist of the Year while his song Happy was Song of the Year. Pharell beat Dolly Parton, Gregory Porter, Lorde, Prince and Taylor Swift.



BBC.com said Pharell was unable to attend because he was filming the US version of the talent show The Voice.

Music-News.com reported that the 41-year-old singer expressed his thanks in a video message.

Ed Sheeran, whose Thinking Out Loud tops the UK’s Official Singles Chart this week, was British Artist of the Year. He triumphed over David Bowie, Sam Smith,
Elbow, Jungle and Royal Blood.
