Taylor Swift was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year for Women in Music 2014 for the second time. What made it more special was that it was announced shortly before her 25th birthday.
Taylor got the award first in 2011.
She said her second time as Billboard’s Woman of the Year was “really exciting” and was not only an early birthday present but a celebration of longevity.
Taylor’s message during the awarding was an assertion of her stand as a singer and songwriter regarding selling albums and streaming her music.
Billboard.com quoted her as saying that while she is open to change and progress, technology should bond with integrity.
"And I think we can teach a younger generation about an investment in music, not just the ephemeral consumption of it. I think that there has to be a way for streaming or any future way we access music to fairly compensate the writers,” she said during the awards night.
Taylor recently made headlines in the music industry when she pulled out her songs from streaming service Spotify on the ground that people should pay enough money for art and music. She claimed that Spotify hurt music sales.
Taylor had two songs that made it to The Big 10 countdown of Barangay LS. One is Shake it Off:
The other is Blank Space:
