Barangay LS helps grant wishes via 'Talk to Santa' | GMANetwork.com - Radio - Articles

The crowd in front of the Radio GMA building was of two groups: One had called in their Christmas wishes while the other group granted them. They did not know each other but they mingled as one with the jocks of Barangay LS.

A conspicuous crowd from all ages and walks of life gathered at the car park of the Radio GMA building.

They are all listeners of Barangay LS 97.1 – one group expressed their wishes on air while the other granted them via Talk to Santa, a segment of the DWLS program Talk to Papa.

The people do not know each other yet they responded enthusiastically – the kids dancing and singing – to the DJs of Barangay LS who hosted their simple gathering while partaking of pancit palabok, toasted siopao and biko.

Entertaining the crowd that numbered close to a hundred were Talk to Papa hosts Papa Obet and Mama Emma. Fellow program host Papa Kiko and Papa Carlo of Bida sa Barangay served the food.

Mama Emma, interviewed by GMANetwork.com along the sidelines, said Talk to Santa started in September as an early Christmas campaign. The gathering was a reunion of sorts.

Mama Emma said the response of the listeners to spread their blessings to their fellow listeners was beyond expectations.

Kaya po natutuloy ‘yan, until now buhay pa rin ang Talk to Santa ngayong December kasi merong mga taong nagbibigay,” she said.

Because of this, Barangay LS decided to extend the duration of their Christmas campaign even after the holidays.

Dahil doon, pwede tayo maging isang hero for someone and matulungan natin sila na mabago ‘yung pagtingin nila sa buhay,” she said.
