Fresh from her Valentine’s day wedding with hubby Yan Asuncion last month, Yeng talked about how does she deals with songwriting block.

Mrs. Asuncion admitted that when she and Yan became a couple, she had her moments when it was too difficult for her to write any songs.

Yeng said, “Hindi talaga madali; may mga time talaga nagkakaroon ng songwriting block lalo na nung nagkaroon ako ng relationship with Yan, [nung]  naging mag-boyfriend kami.”

She added, “They said parang it’ll be easy to write songs kasi may inspiration ka. Pero actually mas nahirapan ako kasi there are words na parang hindi mo masabi sa letra, parang hinahanap mo ‘yung tamang timpla.”

The singer revealed as well that she wrote her 2014 OPM smashed hit ‘Ikaw,’ especially for Yan. The song has now more than 18 million views on YouTube!

In addition, Yeng said she was only able to find the inspiration to write ‘Ikaw’ while she was on an airplane ride.

Dumating ‘yung song na ‘Ikaw.’ Kaya ‘yung term ko dumating kasi I really heard it. Nakasakay ako sa eroplano narinig ko siya na nag-pi-play sa head ko. Sinulat ko lang parang it’s like parang hinuli ko siya from another realm.”

Yeng quipped that she cannot take full credit for the song, since she believes it was a gift from heaven.

“Hindi ko macredit sa sarili ko rin alone ‘yung ‘Ikaw.’ I think it’s a gift from God.”

Moreover, she was overwhelmed with the response of people towards ‘Ikaw.’

She said that the song was personal to her and she is ecstatic that
listeners were able to relate to her music.

“Happy and grateful and blessed sa eight years ko sa industry I never thought makakasulat ako ng song [na] something like that. Personal yet sobrang naka-connect sa mga tao.”
