Singer-pianist Marion, proud to be related to Superstar Nora Aunor

Marion Aunor is unfazed that she is related to Philippine showbiz icon Ms. Nora Aunor.

During her guesting in Mama Belle’s show Sikat Sa Barangay this morning, April 8, the singer-pianist is proud that she can claim that Nora is her aunt.

Marion said, “Hindi ko siya naiisip in that way. Like ever since laging proud lang ako na related ako sa kanya. ['Pag] nakikita ko siya sa history books sa grade school, sabi ko tita ko yan (giggles)!”

Marion added that she does not think it’s a disadvantage for her that she is related to the Superstar.

“Hindi ko naman nakikita as a comparison thing. Proud ako na icon siya sa industry, but then at the same time, hindi ko naman na-fe-feel na super pressure kasi magkaiba naman kami ng music. May sarili din naman akong identity.”

Finding her place in OPM

Marion will stage her first major concert on April 10, her birthday, at Teatrino, Greenhills entitled, ‘Take A Chance.’

 Guests include Michael Pangilinan, Edgar Allan Guzman, Edward Benosa, and her sister Ashley.

The exceptional singer is well aware that the OPM industry is competitive. But Marion feels that she has found her niche in the music world.

“Well,  ginagawa ko lang kung ano ‘yung lumalabas sa akin na music,  sa song writing ko. Then feeling ko nakahanap naman ako ng niche ko sa industry. Kasi ‘yung usual nga na OPM ‘yung birit, ‘yung traditional na mga songs.”

Marion also thinks that she can offer something fresh for the picky Pinoy listeners. 
 
“Medyo struggling ako ngayon, pero nakikita ko naman na open minded ‘yung mga Filipinos. Naghahanap sila lagi ng fresh, something na bago.”
