Remember Derek from the famous internet commercial singing the ‘Anna Banana’ song?



He's all grown up and is pursuing a career in show business and will now be known by his real name, Julius Concepcion.

In his radio guesting last April 16 on Sikat Sa Barangay with senior DJ Mama Belle, the 5’10 cutie gamely answered the questions thrown at him by GMANetwork.com.

Anna Banana goes viral

Since Julius appeared in the PLDT myDSL advertisement in 2012, his song ‘Anna Banana’ gained more than 1.7 million views in the video sharing site, YouTube.
The newbie singer admitted that he was surprised people loved his quirky and unconventional commercial.

He said, “Actually po sa una po, may kaba po kasi ako. Parang tingin ko po hindi nga po sisikat, walang makakapansin sa akin. Pero nagulat po ako.”

This time, he wants to try show business as an actor-singer.

Who does he look up to?

Julius says that he is a fan of Kapuso singer Christian Bautista and the Kapuso primetime couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.

Message to supporters 

Before ending the interview, Julian expressed his gratitude to all his fans supporting him throughout the years and he wished they would continue to follow him in his new endeavor.
He said, “Salamat sa lahat ng nag-su-suporta sa akin at sa pagkanta ko po, acting. Since, birth mayroon po [laughs]. Salamat! Sana huwag silang tumigil kakasuporta at malaking tulong po sila sa akin.”
