Derrick Monasterio and his thirst to innovate

Kapuso hunk Derrick Monasterio dropped by Barangay LS 97.1 this morning, April 26 to promote his self-titled album under GMA Records. The talented actor/singer had a blast being Mama Belle's co-DJ for the day in Sikat sa Barangay.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Derrick revealed that his childhood dream finally came true.

He explained, “Siyempre masaya po kasi super dream ko po talaga siya since bata pa ako. Kasi dati parang singer naman po talaga ako, hindi ako umaarte. So ‘yun, parang at least kahit papaano nakita nila ‘yung talent ko.”

In addition, he also shared that he was very involved in choosing the songs that will be part of his debut album.

“Pero ‘yung ibang songs po kasi na gusto ko hindi rin puwede kasi they belong to other record companies. So ‘yung pagpili po ng songs is a majority decision. [Pinili 'yung] gusto po ng lahat na gusto ko din,” he said.

Moreover, many Kapuso fans are also raving about how Derrick Monasterio evolved as an artist. From being a teen heartthrob, he is now one of the top actors being groomed by GMA Network. He also showcased his amazing singing abilities with the song "Give Me One More Chance."

“Hindi tayo puwede mapako sa isang genre ng pag-arte. Kumbaga, kailangan mag level-up, nakakatuwa kasi finally nakita po nila ‘yung talent ko. Dapat kasi parang constantly nagtsi-change ka para i-innovate mo ‘yung sarili mo,” Derrick stressed.
