Jennylyn Mercado on playing Steffi Chavez: "Pinaka-challenging na role sa mga soap na nagawa ko"

The moment has finally arrived because in a few short hours, the premiere of the Pinoy adaptation of the phenomenal Koreanovela series, My Love From The Star will happen tonight, May 29.

Both Ms. Jennylyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva has been active in promoting their primetime series. In fact, the two were spotted in Mama Belle’s hit morning radio program Sikat sa Barangay today.

Fans of the Koreanovela series are also making their presence felt online. The #MyLoveFromTheStarPH was one of the top trending topics on Twitter Philippines this Monday morning.

In the one-on-one interview of Mama Belle with the My Love From The Star love team, they were both ask what was it like working with each other.

Jennylyn lauded the newbie Gil Cuerva for his work ethic and his desire to become a better actor.

She said, “Okay naman ho. Actually napaka-hardworking niya and gustong-gusto niya talagang matuto and so far ang gaganda nung mga eksena nagagawa namin. And happy-happy si Direk [Bb. Joyce Bernal], happy kaming lahat”

Meanwhile, Gil consider working with the Ultimate Star of the Philippines as a blessing.

Gil explained, “Siyempre isang blessing ‘yung makatrabaho ko si Jennylyn Mercado, aside from the fact na bago pa lang ako, naging naka-trabaho ko pa si Jen. So, siyempre ang dami kong blessings sa project na ito. Sobrang thankful ko na, aside from being the leading man sa isang teleserye, naka-trabaho ko pa si Jen.”

Although she has done a lot of soaps and movies in the past, Jennylyn feels that playing the role of Steffi Chavez is very challenging for a seasoned actress like her.

“Para sa akin ito ‘yung pinaka-challenging na role sa mga soap na nagawa ko. So, kakaiba siya dahil first time ko din gagawa ng romcom sa television, so sana magustuhan nila,”
