GMA Records ends 2nd quarter on a high note as it continues to magnify the talents of Kapuso artists Julie Anne San Jose, Kris Lawrence, Persephone, Marielle Castro, and Blanktape and showcase two commended projects namely Bayan Ko and My Kontrabida Girl.

After the success of her solo concert “It’s My Time,” Julie Anne San Jose continues to hit high notes as her self-titled debut album exceeds the Quadruple Platinum Record status with over 60,000 units sold for combined physical CDs and digital downloads. Awarding was done last June 23 in GMA’s newest Sunday fare Sunday All Stars. Continuing to bring soul to her musical career is her latest single “For Everything” which was recently chosen as Brgy. LS Most Wanted Song of the Week and will be the theme song of the upcoming Koreanovela My Daughter Seoyoung. “For Everything” can be downloaded as a ringback tune by just texting JA6 or JULIE6 to 2447 for Smart and 2370 for Globe subscribers.

Meanwhile, R&B Prince, Kris Lawrence finds himself exploring the emotive trappings of love through his 12-track album “Spread the Love.” Leading the soul-fueled record is the single “Ikaw Pala,” which is the love theme of GMA’s newest Koreanovela Padam Padam. Currently available in digital format, Spread the Love is infused with Kris’ signature vocal stylings plus symphonic productions and heartfelt vibratos. Speaking straight to the listeners’ hearts are songs as "Sabihin Mo Naman," “Nightmare,” “Tell Me,” I Wanna Know,” “Unbreakable,” “I’d Rather Be Alone,” “Try Again,” and “Make Me Whole” that mirrors not only Kris’s versatile and warm vocals but also how he explores themes about love. Get to know the romantic side of Kris Lawrence via Spread the Love which is now available thru iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and OPM2GO.

Speaking of love, here comes the female-fronted act Persephone breathing new life into the music scene. Relatively new to the industry, this melodic trio expresses everything a band of its caliber should convey—keen attention to the nuances of love, sweet catchy choruses, and good old-fashioned songwriting courtesy of its lead singer Barbara Jeanne. Persephone offers a straightforward album narrating certain universal truths and scenarios about relationships. Songs as “Para Sa’yo,”  "1 2 3," “Ang Saya,” and “Di Pa Sapat” show off Barbara’s sugar-infused voice and high-pitched vocals. Offering a blissful listening experience are songs “Ilaw,” Love Begets Love,” “Maghihintay” and “Take Me.” Persephone’s self-titled debut album is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and OPM2GO.

During the 2nd quarter, GMA Records also released the album entitled “Sana’y Mapansin: Certified Ka-Pusa” by Blanktape. Blanktape is the one behind the super hit songs “Banana,” “Jejemon,” “Chika Lang ‘Yon, “Pechay,” and a lot more which have been hits among radio listeners nationwide. Consisting of eleven original songs, “Sana’y Mapansin: Certified Ka-Pusa” includes songs as “Turuan Mo ‘Ko Nyan,” Siomai,” "You're The One", “Ikaw Lang,” and “Hayahay.” Released by GMA Records, Blanktape’s album is now available on CDs in major record outlets nationwide and is also available in digital format in iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and OPM2GO. Kapuso fans can also download Blanktape’s single “Siomai” as ringback tune by texting TAPE8 or BT8 to 2447 for Smart and 2370 for Globe subscribers.

Fans of heartfelt songwriting will definitely love OPM’s new muse Marielle Castro with her first single “Bubble.” Staying true to herself, Marielle draws her inspiration from personal experience that are channeled through her lush vocals and laid over wistful melodies. “Bubble” is a delightful indie pop goodness with Marielle’s delicate vocals cooing confessional lyrics like they were taken straight from her diary. “Bubble”, which debuted at the #21 spot in iTunes' Top Songs, is also available through Amazon, Spotify, and OPM2GO.

The second quarter of 2013 also saw the release of GMA News TV’s 1st Original Series entitled Bayan Ko on DVD. Starring Rocco Nacino, Pen Medina, Ping Medina, Mercedes Cabral, LJ Reyes, Betong Sumaya, and Love Anover, Bayan Ko is inspired by the life of Jesse Robredo as well as the social realist films of director Lino Brocka. Directed by Adolfo Alix Jr., Bayan Ko tells the story of newly elected Mayor Joseph Santiago, who sets out to make a difference in the fictional town of Lagros. Bringing political and social issues closer to the heart of regular viewers, Bayan Ko’s Vol. 1 and 2 is now available in your favorite record bars.

Also out on DVD is GMA Films’ romantic-comedy film My Kontrabida Girl starring Kapuso leading lady Rhian Ramos and Kapuso hunk Aljur Abrenica together with tween stars Bea Binene and Jake Vargas. Directed by Jade Castro, get to know the quest of the TV melodrama villainess Isabel Reyes (Rhian Ramos) in finding her one true love. From hilarious punch lines to heart-warming scenes, My Kontrabida Girl’s DVD is definitely a must-have.

Bringing Kapuso fans more groundbreaking and unique entertainment experience, don’t miss GMA Records’ release this Q3 2013 of the Best of Bubble Gang and indie film Rakenrol on DVD as well as the digital single entitled Teddybear by Cilope, a Filipino singer based in Belgium, and "Ayoko Na" from the phenomenal diva Ms. Jessa Zaragoza’s album “Pag Wala Na Ang Ulan.”
