One is part of a Philippine showbiz royalty while one grew up not at all used to the limelight.

GMA Records' artists Kylie Padilla and James Wright may have a plethora of differences but they’re bound by one thing – their common love for music.

Being the daughter of Robin Padilla, Kylie is used to being seen by many people. She knew early on that there aren’t many secrets that could be kept of their family because her clan is one of the most celebrated ones in the showbiz industry.

However, she has learned to confide in songwriting. “I’ve written a lot [of songs]. Music is what I turn to when I’m in every emotion. I don’t play an instrument but I really appreciate music,” she said.

James Wright, meanwhile, is a Filipino-Australian musician who grew up in Hong Kong. He’s seen a lot of the world and has found an avenue of expression in music.

“I’m a composer. I started composing songs when I was three (years old). My actual first song was when I was 12. It’s called Sweet Dreams. I grew up in Hong Kong and at that time, there was a really big typhoon and I couldn’t really sing so I tried to compose myself a lullaby,” he shared.

Whatever life throws at Kylie and James, they know they would emerge strong because they’ve found that they could turn to and hold onto their love for lyrics, tunes and melodies. Even with all the twisty roads and wrong turns, they know that the right key and the perfect playlist will see them through.
