GMA Network successfully turned over a total of 1,136 (511,200cc) blood bags to the Philippine Red Cross during its annual ‘Kapuso Bloodletting Day’ held simultaneously in various parts of the country last February 8.

Kapuso employees, along with their families and friends, at the GMA headquarters in Quezon City were able to donate a record high of 317 blood bags while the bloodletting activities in Dagupan, Ilocos, Naga, Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Davao, General Santos, and Cagayan de Oro produced a total of 819 blood bags.

Notably, Kapuso star Alden Richards, who is now a second-time donor, also participated in this year along with other GMA personalities.

Organized by the GMA Corporate Affairs and Communications Department for over a decade now, the ‘Kapuso Bloodletting Day’ is in coordination with GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), GMA Regional TV, and the Philippine Red Cross.

“Seeing fellow Kapuso employees wholeheartedly giving a part of themselves to help save other people’s lives is incredibly touching and inspiring. Our sincere thanks to everyone who supported this meaningful project,” said GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier Cruz.

Also present during the Kapuso Bloodletting Day in GMA’s Quezon City compound were GMAKF Founder and Ambassador Mel Tiangco, GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, PRC National Blood Services Director Dr. Christie Monina Nalupta, and PRC Quezon City Chapter Administrator Amparo Perez.

Meanwhile, interested blood donors may also participate in GMAKF’s bi-annual blood drive ‘Sagip Dugtong Buhay’ this Saturday, February 16, 8AM to 6PM, at Ever Gotesco Mall in Quezon City.
