GMA Network remains the leader in media coverage both on-air and online. At the recent VideoAces Awards by analytics firm Tubular Labs, GMA News emerged as the top news organization in the Philippines in terms of online video viewership.
Based from data, the said video measurement company showed how GMA News made waves online in 2018—getting 1.2 billion views on Facebook, 1.1 billion on YouTube, and 8.1 billion viewers on Instagram, thus becoming the number 1 local media creator on social video, based on 2018 cross-platform social video views.
Worldwide, GMA News secured the 17th place among News & Politics Media Creators, three spots above ABS-CBN News. The list was topped by various international news outlets such as ABC News, CNN, and Daily Mail.
“Our online viewership is a reflection of our commitment to Serbisyong Totoo, the hallmark of GMA News and Public Affairs, which remains true for any platform—from television to online,” says GMA Senior Vice President for News and Public Affairs Marissa L. Flores.
“This award will inspire our digital team to continue bringing the most important and engaging news to Filipinos here and abroad, directly to their device of choice,” says GMA Network Assistant Vice President for News and Public Affairs Digital Media Jaemark Tordecilla.
Highly regarded as the most internationally-awarded broadcast news organization in the country, GMA News and Public Affairs continues to be a trailblazer and innovator with its original productions in the digital space, in addition to making its award-winning programs available online.
Among its current slate of digital efforts are “#GMAnewsfeed”, a live Facebook newscast; “FYI with Richard Heydarian”; “Ask Away: the GMA News Q&A”; “Magtanong Kay Mang Tani”; “DigiDokyu”; “#RealTalk”; “Conversations@GMANews”; and the “YouScoop Asks” series for Eleksyon 2019, where senatorial candidates answer tough questions from citizen journalists.
GMA News and Public Affairs is also bringing the future of online news via “Stand for Truth” - an all-new digital newscast which premiered on April 15. Produced and reported by the young, for the young, “Stand for Truth” is headlined by Atom Araullo with Richard Heydarian and Joyce Pring. They are joined by a line-up of millennial reporters who will deliver the news. “Stand for Truth” streams on GMA News Online and the GMA News Public Affairs’ YouTube page weeknights at 8 pm.
