Current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol has finally shared her thoughts about the Miss World pageant, where she finished outside of the top 40.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne shared multiple photos of her during the Miss World pageant held last March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India. In the caption to the post, Gwendolyne shared how emotional she was for the support sent her way after her Miss World performance.
“My eyes are swelling with tears trying to hold it all in so the world can see a brave woman who gave her all,” she wrote. “But like any human being, I think it is normal to admit that it is okay to be vulnerable, it is okay to be hurt, it is okay to be in shock and question myself and my capabilities.”
Gwendolyne shared that she is still confused about what happened during the pageant and that she had been asking herself what went wrong, what she did differently, and what things she may have missed. But she eventually accepted that there may be a bigger yet unknown path waiting for her. She then went on to thank her family, the ERDA Foundation that she supports, and the team that has helped her prepare for the Miss World pageant.
Several of Gwendolyne's beauty queen colleagues were in the post's comment section to show their support. Just some of the names that can be seen are Miss Philippines Hispanoamericana 2021 Emmanuelle Vera, Miss Thailand World 2023 Tharina Botes, Miss Eco International 2023 Ashley Subijano, and Miss Grand Philippines 2023 Nikki de Moura.
Despite not getting in the Top 40, Gwendolyne performed well in several of the pageant's challenges. She was able to place in the Top 20 of the Top Model Challenge alongside delegates from Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Martinique, Peru, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Scotland, Slovakia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Turkey.
Gwendolyne also placed in the Top 25 of the Miss World Head to Head Challenge. Eventually winning the Miss World Head to Head Challenge were the delegates from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, England, and Botswana.
