Sparkle artist Lala Vinzon proudly shows off her national costume for the prestigious Binibining Pilipinas pageant.
On her Instagram account, Lala, who uses her name Maria Isabel David, gives a little background on the inspiration of the national costume she wore in the competition and how it is related to the province she is representing, which is Mexico, Pampanga.
The 20-year-old singer said it was based on the Philippine mythology goddess named Hanan, the goddess of the morning or dawn.
She wrote, "During the pre-colonial times of Pampanga, there was a mythical story about Bathala and his daughter, Hanan. Hanan is the goddess of morning dawn, as well as child birth that represents new beginning.
"In Kapampangan literature, people offer her bountiful harvest and prayers when a child is delivered in this world, the womanhood or manhood of a person, the beginning of planting and harvest season, and the start of a new annual cycle. Historically, Hanan was the super hero of their time, the mythical legends that provided lessons and warning about the consequences of immoral decisions or how Valor could be rewarded."
Lala also mentioned that her designer, Chris Egne, chose the design of her costume because it perfectly fits her personality, "which represents Hanan, being an empowered woman in this generation."
In a separate post, Lala also shows a few clips from pre-pageant shows where she was wearing a swimwear, an evening gown, and, of course, her national costume.
Lala is the latest Kapuso artist to join a beauty pageant this year. Michelle Dee had a successful run in the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant, ending up with the Miss Universe Philippines Tourism title.
Aside from Lala, former False Positive actress Herlene Budol is also competing in the Binibining Pilipinas.
