They’ve made the word "balakubak" connote something funny, and every week we tune in to find out which celebrity they’re putting on this itchy hot seat. They bring life to our mid-week lull with their innovative games and hilarious antics. But what exactly are they like when the cameras aren’t rolling? iGMA gets the first crack on their nutty stories! Interviews by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Favorite segment ANJO YLLANA: “Balakubak. Kasi you get to interview different personalities (and) celebrities every week. What I like about it is you get to ask questions you’ve never asked before, and while we’re doing that, ako, feeling ko, not as an actor, but as parang Inday Badiday type na we’re asking intriguing questions! That’s why I like it very much, kasi it’s different, unlike when you do comedy, when you do hosting, when you do acting, mayroon na kaming parang guide. Tapos puro adlib. Sometimes even my partners, they don’t know what I’m gonna ask the guests.” SHERWIN ORDONEZ: “Siyempre yung games. Basta yung mga physical games. May segment kami ditong paborito naming lahat, yung Talon Talon.” MIKE NACUA: “Wala actually, pero yung favorite ko dito is of course, yung Balakubak, then yung game naming ‘Nutsarapsa’ kasi parang rapping ka, pero rhyming kailangan, so adlib lahat, so masaya, kasi lahat ng maiisip mo, maipapasok mo dun sa game nay ‘yun.” What makes the show click? CARMINA VILLAROEL: “Siguro it’s the whole cast. Parang, one big happy family kami, talagang nagja-jive kami, alam na naming ugali ng isat-isa, tapos we have respect for each other, especially Tito Joey. Tapos siguro, tulungan, hindi ‘yung o sige, ako bahala dito, ako lang, bahala kayo diyan.” JOEY DE LEON: “Uh, kasi nagkakaintindihan kami. I’m talking of (the) Balakubak portion, nagkakaintindihan kami. Iyon bang, the way we think, na Tito, Vic, and Joey, the way we see things and hindi na kailangan mag-usap, eyes lang and feeling, alam na namin ang iniisip ng isa, o ang gagawin. Ganoon na rin nangyayari sa team namin nina Anjo, Janno at ng ibang kasama namin. Kapag nadevelop niyo na iyun, you don’t have to talk about gagawin niyo, although we do, kunwari, hindi namin masyadong kilala yung guest, nagtatanong kami. Pero the portion itself, na-develop na namin ‘yung nagkakaintindihan kami. Kasalanan kung magsapawan kayo na hindi nangyayari sa amin.” Are they really funny off-screen? BRAD TURVEY: “I’m the funniest, actually, I think, when I’m with my friends from Australia. I guess because we know each other so well, and the thing about my group in Australia is we’re all very sarcastic. And, I know they say sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but I beg to differ.” The creative minds behind the show JOEY DE LEON: “Nagcocontribute kaming lahat. Ako, maski magcontribute ako, pagdating na ng time ko, naga-add lib pa rin ako. Ang script, guide lang yan, e.” Playing with the audience BRAD TURVEY: “I guess, first of all, the name kinda explains it all. It’s really nuts! The format, well, basically, it consists of a combination of games, really silly games. It’s always interesting and along with the games, we also have some sketches, and spoofs that we do. On my part, I actually prefer the games.” CARMINA VILLAROEL: “If you’re watching, mae-excite ka, parang ang fun fun pero kapag nandoon ka na, kapag ikaw ‘yung nandun, nakakatense! Sobra palagi, all the time! Lahat kami kasali sa games, it changes every week. Halos lahat ng games kasali kami” MIKE NACUA: “Kailangan panoorin nila dahil dito sila makakakuha ng mga games na hindi pa nila naririnig sa buong buhay nila!” The funniest moments ANJO YLLANA: “Marami e. I can not think of one, kasi every time naman, we’re having fun. Pero I’m guessing nga, siguro yung mga memorable ones, when we ask bulong questions from our guests. Whisper, kasi the audience, they don’t know e. So you could see the reactions. So, ayun, we’re having so much fun kapag bulungan portion. Tapos sila na rin, sa games, like, nung nagstart itong Nuts Entertainment, we introduced new games, so we have so much fun there’s always something new. I think televiewers have so much fun also.” BRAD TURVEY: “Actually, I’ve got a lot. Um, favorite ones, you know, I have to say that our last year’s Christmas Party was really something. Because we taped and held our Christmas party in one night. I won’t go into details, basta it was a grand time!” CARMINA VILLAROEL: “Madami e, kasi pag kasama si Tito Joey, sila Anjo, sina Janno, everybody, the whole gang, wala akong maisip na one particular funny moment talaga e. Palaging merong funny. Crazy sila e!” Catch this nutty gang every Wednesday night during GMA KiliTV!
